Evaluation of a Weight-Based Mycophenolate Mofetil Dosing Protocol for Kidney Transplant Maintenance Immunosuppression

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of weight-based mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) dosing in adult kidney transplant recipients (KTR), this single-center retrospective study KTR compared biopsy-proven acute rejection (BPAR), infections, hospitalizations, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) use, MMF dose changes within one year pre-and post-implementation a protocol. Adult patients who received at University Health Transplant Institute were reviewed for inclusion. Patients group 1000 mg twice daily by first clinic visit if ≥ 80 kg, 750 50-79 500 < 50 kg. fixed-dose daily. A total 170 (50.0% 44.1% 5.9% kg) included. Baseline characteristics similar between groups. The majority middle-aged Hispanic males lymphocyte-depleting induction therapy. Incidences BPAR, infection, hospitalization both groups one-year post-transplant. Weight-based is safe effective KTR.
